Globalisation is a challenge to trade unions

Alhaji H. I. Kambasi, Acting National Chairman of the Teachers and Educational Worker's Union (TEWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), has said globalisation poses a great challenge to the existence of trade unions both in Ghana and Africa.

Trade unions should, therefore understand issues involved and reposition themselves to face the challenge.

Alhaji Kambasi was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on the just ended third quadrennial conference of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions NASU of Nigeria that he attended at Abuja.

The theme was "repositioning NASU for greater challenges, enhanced performance and positive results".

He said for better remuneration there was the need for trade unions to set production targets and the vision of organizations must be spelt out in well-developed manuals for study by unionists.
