Ghana Bauxite Company assists communities

Awaso(WR), June 13, GNA - The management of Ghana Bauxite Company (GBC) at Awaso has constructed KVIP places of convenience for the people of Awaso, Atronso and Subri, communities in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District in the Western Region. The projects were estimated at GH¢33,600. Handing over the facilities at Awaso, Mr Ross McClellan, Managing Director of the company said its vision was not only to reduce unemployment but also improve the living conditions of people within its catchment areas.

He commended the people for their communal spirit towards the completion of the projects on schedule and appealed to them to maintain the facilities and always keep them neat. Mr McClellan promised that management would assist managements of some schools to acquire computers to promote learning of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in schools as part of our corporate social responsibility.

Nana Yaa Ampomah II, Queenmother of Subri on behalf of the beneficiary communities expressed appreciation to the management for the gesture. She said the facilities would improve environmental hygiene and appealed to the management for assistance to provide pipe-borne water to some communities whose sources of drinking water had been polluted through activities of the company.
