AngloGold committed to maintaining clean environment

Bibiani (W/R), Oct 19, GNA - Mr Yaw Boadi, Senior Manager of AngloGold Ashanti Bibiani Limited, has reiterated the company's commitment to maintain its prestige as the best environmentally company in the mining sector. He was speaking after he had led staff of the company, voluntary youth groups, students and security agencies to undertake a six-hour clean-up exercise in Bibiani on Wednesday. The exercise covered de-silting of gutters, scrubbing, sweeping and weeding.

Mr Boadi said the exercise, apart from creating awareness, was also aimed at fostering closer partnership between the community and the company in order to operate in an atmosphere of peace and understanding. He commended the participants for making the exercise very successful.

Mr Louis Bayou, the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District Co-ordinating Director, pledged the district assembly's support towards environmental cleanliness and commended AngloGold Ashanti Bibiani for the initiative. 19 Oct 06
