Black Bombers show class at ECOWAS Games

Three Ghanaian boxers have qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Games.

The trio; Duke Micah (Flyweight), Sulemana Tetteh (Bantamweight) and Musah Raman Lawson (Light Welterweight) booked their places in the medal zone with convincing wins in their quarter final bouts on Monday at the Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium.

Micah, one of four boxers to have qualified for the London 2012 Olympic Games stopped Nigerian Muideen Buhari in the first round of their Flyweight contest.

In the Bantamweight category, Tetteh accounted for Gominam Agossou of Benin 14:7 whilst Lawson also accounted for Nigerian Pender Agwaholo in the Light Welterweight division.

In other bouts, Mahamadou Bohari of Niger advanced to the next round with a 13-10 victory over Lassine Traore of Mali in the Bantamweight category, whilst Oladosu Rilwan of Nigeria saw off Moussa Samb of Senegal 14:7 in the Lightweight division.

Sawadogo Boureima of Burkina Faso also booked his place to the next round defeating Souleymane Moussa of Niger in a close fight with a 11:10 score in the Middleweight class.

The semi final bouts will take place on Wednesday.**
