Body Building Association adopts new name

Accra, Sept. 25, GNA - The Ghana Body Building Association (GBBA) has with the authority of the National Sports Council (NSC) adopted a new name - Ghana Body Building and Fitness Association (GBBFA). This follows a clash in abbreviation with the Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA).

Mr Abdul-Hayye Yartey, Chairman of the (GBBFA) who disclosed this to the GNA Sports in Accra on Tuesday said the decision is to distinguish the Association from the rest and also aid them to carry out their primary objectives of developing and promoting the sport in Ghana. He expressed the hope that the decision will enhance their chances of securing corporate sponsorship to enhance development of the sport. Touching on the world championship slated for South Korea, Mr Yartey said the Association has secured the requisite documents from the NSC for their visas at the embassy.

Six bodybuilders and two officials are expected to represent the nation at the championship fixed for October 26-29 this year.
