Four institutions compete in UPAC Basketball Championship

Four institutions, namely Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Garden City University College, Kumasi Polytechnic and Christian Service University College will engage in battle at the Ashanti Region qualifiers for the 2015 UPAC Basketball Championship scheduled for Kumasi on Saturday March 21.

The game follows the successful Greater Accra Zone 1 qualifiers which saw University of Professional Studies (UPSA) clinche qualification to the finals next month, after seeing off Pentecost University College, Ho Polytechnic and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).The second edition of the tertiary basketball is shaping up nicely after it kicked off last weekend in Accra.

The Ashanti regional qualifier is expected to be masterful, engaging and keenly contested with some of the finest basketball players on display for their respective institutions and will be streamed LIVE on Basketballghana.com

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) boasts of experienced players including star man Emmanuel Ekow Amoako playing alongside Edem Dompeh and Kwame Adjei Akrasi.

But their quest to make the final could be threatened by emerging teams like Kumasi Polytechnic, who have vowed to silence their city rival when the two teams cross sword. The round-robin format will see the winner qualify automatically for the final which takes place in Accra in April.

The 2015 UPAC Basketball Championship is sponsored by Dynamite Energy Drink and supported by Access Bank, EV Oil, Premier Cool, Airtel Ghana and Everpure.
