Maiden edition of Soul to Soul @ +233 rocks!

The maiden edition of the Soul II Soul Old School music night held on New Year’s eve, at the +233 Jazz Bar & Grill, lived up to the pre-event event.

A good number of Accra’s discerning fun-loving community was ushered into the New Year, with some delectable old school music by Kwame Yeboah and his Ohia BeyeYa Band.

As if the Ohia BeYeYa Band treat wasn’t enough, Dancehall act Samini and Nana Yaa put up sterling performances, giving patrons a lot to go into the New Year.

The maiden event was fun-packed, and offered a double dose of entertainment with the traditional +233 midnight firework display. There was also a feast of grills served through to the early hours of the New Year.

In all, it was a thrilling night of good old school music.

An initiative of Karl Aubyn Events and +233, Soul II Soul will feature an impressive collection of Old School tracks, both local and international including Soul, Funk, Highlife, Hiplife, R&B, and Afrobeat among other rhythms.

Expected to be the city’s preferred destination for unadulterated Old School music, Soul II Soul will “harness local talent to present a monthly musical experience featuring our most talented bands and artistes performing both African and African American tracks of yesteryear,” the organizers have said.

Soul II Soul will be held on the first Friday of every month from February 1, 2013.
