Daddy Lumba, Nana Acheampong thrill MOGO

After being apart for almost two decades, the ‘Highlife twin’, Daddy Lumba and Nana Acheampong, made history last night at Citi FM’s Music of Ghanaian Origin (MOGO) in Accra. In what can best be described as a foretaste of what their fans will see at the International Conference Center on December 29, the Lumba Brothers proved they are still very much together and can sing some of their good old songs.

Nana Acheampong was the first to grace the stage with some of his very popular tunes like ‘anka ebe yeden’. He later introduced Daddy Lumba on stage who thrilled the audience with some of his great songs inspite of minor technical difficulties.

Daddy Lumba then brought Nana Acheampong back on stage as they performed one of their big hits, ‘yeya aka akwentuom’.

MOGO is an annual musical event that celebrates music of Ghanaian origin. The event, which is organised by Accra based Citi FM attracted thousands of people this year from all walks of life.

It certainly won’t be an exaggeration to say MOGO 2007 had the most vibrant audience.

Paapa Yankson’s performance was one of the greatest of the nite as he did his popular ‘okukuseku’ song with the audience. The audience sang the entire song perfectly without the help of a band as Papa Yankson lead the ‘choir’ himself.

Samini also took the audience away with his electrifying energy. Ghana’s MTN ambassador couldn’t have done better. Gyedu Blay Ambulley was on fire with tunes like ‘miye abrantie’ and ‘ragumzo’.

It was a showcase of Ghana’s finest musicians and singers in one nite. MOGO 2007 surely left its audience with good memories.
