Lateas To Launch Album

Mary Lartey, best known as Lateas (her showbiz name) would launch her maiden album next month in Accra.

The eight track album titled "Wo Do Me" is a mixture of highlife, hiplife and little bit of pop.

Songs contained in the album include title track ?Wo Do Me", ?Jonnie?, ?Yengae?, ?Mpae?, ?Abrabo?, ?Larteley?, ?Ma Me Mfama Wo?, and ?Paris?.

It was recorded at Lamion Multi-Media Studio at Ashalley Botwe Old Town, Accra.

These were made known to The Spectator by Lateas and her producer, Mr Walter Moon in an interview.

The album generally touches on social issues, especially relationships.

Wu Do Me, for instance, talks about how men would do everything to get a woman, and when they finally succeed, they turn to bluff.

It advises women to patient and take time to study men they think are their Mr Right?? before giving in to them.

Lateas, who is currently based in London, and is a mother of three, one girl and two boys.

She grew up in Madina and Osu Kinkawe, Accra. She attended the A.O. Primary School, had her JSS education at Top Ridge School in Efia Kuma, Takoradi, in the Western Region, where she obtained her Basic Education Certificate in 1998.

This promising and up-coming musician later travelled to Britain in 2000.

In London, she pursued a course and successfully graduated as a beautician.

Asked how she got into music, Lateas said "while in Top Ridge School, we used to have entertainment sessions during which we normally had dancing and singing competition. I enjoyed singing and used the opportunity to join the school choir. I was also a member of the Power House Ministry International at Korle Gonno, where I used to worship and through these experiences, my passion for music pushed me into singing.

Infact, while in Britain, I continued to do my own thing, and the result is my album, to be launched."

For music lovers, Lateas?s producer says "she is coming out with her own style of highlife".

Well, just watch out for the music and make your own judgment.
