Gospel Rock Marks Dedication

The claim by some music lovers that the country?s gospel music lack creativity was proved wrong during a musical show in celebration of the dedication of Lighthouse Chapel International?s Tema Cathedral in Community 8 recently.

Defying a downpour in the early hours of the evening, patrons turned up in their large numbers forcing the organisers to start the event immediately after the rains.

The praise and worship team of the host cathedral mounted the beautifully designed stage and led patrons to an inspiring praise and worship session with songs such as ?Be Magnified?, ?Medofo Kesee?, among others.

The Mega Praise Choir of the host cathedral smartly dressed in all-black confidently sang a number of songs backed lightly by its instrumentalists.

They received rounds of applause but when they did ?I Give Glory To Your Name? and a transformed ?The Lord Is My Shepherd?, patrons could not help giving them a standing ovation to the incredible ministration.

Nii Okine, supported by the Harbour City Mass Choir, started his performance with ?Yebo Ntonton Wo?. It is a fast paced song that was well performed much to the admiration of the audience. He then slowed the pace, with a couple of worship songs from his forthcoming album, ?Worship?.

Ike Nanor, a new gospel sensation mounted the stage and treated patrons to ?Lord I Thirst For You? as well as ?Metwere Yesu? and a remix of ?He Is Lord?.

Danny Nettey joined Ike Nanor on stage when it was his turn. Together, they moved the crowd with amazing stagecraft and touching lyrics. The pulsating sounds from the instruments and Danny?s silky voice set the whole auditorium on fire.

And as if not enough, Nii Okine suddenly joined the two to do a remix of his popular ?Moko Be?. The euphoria that eclipsed the auditorium with the performance was unimaginable.

The curtains were drawn for the end of the spectacular show after Danny Nettey?s ?N?dom?. The compere for the concert was Kojo Oppong of Sunny FM.

Earlier on in the morning, the newly constructed cathedral was dedicated by Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, the founder of Lighthouse Chapel International together with Rev. Ishmael Sam, resident overseer and his associate ministers.

In his sermon, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills stressed on the importance of believers supporting each other?s and God?s work for the benefit of all.
