Nigerian Songstress Rocks Ghana

Her name is Mother Jolly; a phenomenal Nigerian diva who has been sojourning around Africa and has finally made her way to Ghana.

Mother Jolly is in town with her music group called Soul Entertainers and they have been gracing many musical shows through out the Capital. Mother Jolly has a very versatile and afro-centric style that distinguishes her music from others.

She has four albums, which were released in Nigeria and South Africa respectively, and she is out with the latest album titled ?Stop The Rush?, an album which explores the diverse African rhythms that she has been fortunate to learn throughout her journey from her home right down to South Africa and currently in Ghana.

In an interview with Jolly about her current album she said, ?I?m trying to sound a word of caution to all those who rush in everything they do- from politicians to ordinary people we meet everyday on the street?.

Mother Jolly is a live musician who has so much command over the instruments. Being the professional she is, Mother Jolly brought her own equipment and instruments to the country together with her back liners.
Recently, Mother Jolly was a guest artiste at Orlando Jullius?s monthly live concert, which took place at Regency Groove Hotel, and she was such a delight to watch. Jolly mesmerized the crowd with her witty lyrics and deep soulful voice to the point that the crowd couldn?t help it but dance the night away.

When I asked Jolly why she was in Ghana, she said, ?Nigeria and Ghana are sister countries and I?ve always admired some Ghanaian veteran musicians, so when the opportunity presented itself I was more than willing to come and have a taste of what goes on in Ghana?.

Her music has themes that touch on pertinent day-to-day issues ranging from love, relationships, empowering the African, as well as other Afro centric topics. Jolly says she is using music to empower the African woman; she is involved in Pan-African programs as well as programs to promote live music.

Mother Jolly started out at a tender age before she completed high school in Nigeria and by the time she was out of school, it was very evident what career or path she was going to take.

After being discovered in Nigeria, Jolly sojourned to South Africa, where she was signed on a record deal with one of the most popular record labels in the South.
