Batman Primes To Fly Again

Just when people, critics and admirers may be thinking that the musical Batman has been too quiet lately in his music career, he is set to deliver another album which many who have had the privilege to listen to say is way above 'Linda', his hit album that took music lovers by storm.

Emmanuel Samini, that is the real name of Batman, who has been critical of himself for not choosing the words of the lyrics of 'Linda' well enough, says this time he is over with that kind of lyrics.

In a chat with Graphic Showbiz, the songster said he has a lot of regrets for the provocative manner in which 'Linda' was cast.

According to him he later got to know that if the lyrics of 'Linda' had be lewd it would have won a lot more admirers. "I have therefore learnt my lessons and have begun a scheme to craft my lyrics well before recording. There will not be any 'spur of the moment' formation of lyrics", he said.

The new album, which has gone through the recording stage, has a lot of reggae, dancehall tunes as well as love songs comes under the title 'Odo'. The songster himself says that the quality of 'Odo ' as would be noticed by music lovers is far better than 'Linda'. Batman says that his audience would noticed a lot of growth in this album especially in the area of instrumentation and lyrics.

Reacting to the claims of his critics that he is finished musically he said they should be prepared to travel the long journey of his musical career with him since there would be much more surprises than anyone could guess.

He said throughout his life from age eight to his present 24 years, what he has been able to do best is music. I have lived music.

"During my JSS days at the Holy Family JSS I got into trouble on a number of occasions with the school authorities because I was always mimicking popular artistes and my classmates beat the top tables in the classroom to support me. We could be very noisy and the teachers appropriately made me kneel down in the sun for the rest of the school times on each day that I was caught. But the habit was like whiskey so I continued to engaged in it".

At St. Margaret Mary Senior Secondary he really got into trouble with the school authorities when he skipped the last written exams to organise a jam session for his mates but the school authorities were so mad at his skipping the last paper that while his friends were enjoying the jams he was made to kneel in the sun.

Batman's involvement in his music in his youthful days was not all mischief, he was a keen member of his school and church choirs. His real career started at the age of 17 when he formed Jaycee Connection, a rap group with two others and they performed at many functions for about three years.

He has been in collaboration with many musical artistes including K. K. Fosu, Kokovelli, King David, Sonni Bali (UK), Bonita L (Canada) and Talal Fatal (on the Eboni album). He says his recent collaboration with Abrewa Nana in a duet has set tongues wagging that he is in a relation with her but that he said is not true.

According to him he remain a bachelor for as long as Miss Right has not come. He has a daughter from a failed relationship.
