Sergeant Obuor On The Road

Since three years ago when he escaped death in a motor accident by a hair’s breath, hiplife star Obuor has passionately taken to the use of music to educate people on issues of road safety.

Two years ago, Obuor made a tour of six cities and some towns in the country, collaborating with the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) and other partners to organise seminars for road users such as drivers, pedestrians and motorbike riders.

Then last year, pursuing the same project, he shifted direction to radio interviews and granted a number of interviews on road safety. In the same year when NRSC launched its road safety campaign, Obuor offered to play a role in it.

“In 2006, the direction now is to go visual,” Obuor told Showbiz last Monday. “This is by way of a music video in which I play Sergeant Mensah, a motor traffic policeman. It’s been running on local TV and I expect it to run for sometime,” he said.

Obuor said he also has in his plans, the production of some mini series lasting about three minutes each which will take aspects of road accidents and treat them as public education pieces.

Like his music, Obuor’s videos are being produced by Obuor’s production company, Family Tree Entertainment. His main expectation, he says, is to help sensitise the public, not only to enjoy his music but also to listen to the messages and practise what the message carries.
