Women Of Praise

The newest group to join the gospel music circuit is Women of Praise, a trio comprising Josephine Odoom, Gloria Aduonum and Rebecca Darkua. Moved by the words of God in Ephesians 5:19 “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs” The trio has decided to use music to communicate the message of Christ across the world and draw people closer to God.

The twelve-song compilation with lyrics written by the group and edited by Pastor E. K. Acquah and performed by the group include Yen Aseda the Title Track, Twe Ben No, Woye Onyame, Praise Medley, Gye W’ ayeyi, Tie Yen Sufre and Meye Wo Kese.

Twe Ben No in the Adowa vein on the first track of the promo CD brings out the voices of the ladies harmonious and controlled, blending beautifully with the instrumentation. Woye Onyame, mellow and mid-tempo once again rely on the beauty of the voices of the trio which no doubts appear very trained.

The instrumentation once again is well balanced and follows the percussion which leads the other instruments. The well-thought out lyrics shower praises on the maker, the all in all for his many blessings.

Praise Medley is a highlife tune fast-paced which opens with all the voices but eventually leave one voice to lead the others while they back the leader in a danceable song that will do well in a praise session.

The next song Gye W’ayeyi is a slow paced soup that has the instrumentation following the lead vocal in a solemn tune which offers thanks to the almighty. While Meye Wo Kese another slow tune ends the collection.

The lyrics and the passion with which the trio present their messages in the songs give an indication that the Women of Praise will achieve their aim of using music as a means of communication of the message of Christ.
