It could be recalled that the latter part of the year featured one of the nation?s best sound engineers. Jay Q, as he is affectionately called, categorically stated that one person that contributed greatly to his success was one Fredyma of Fredyma Studios.

It was a surprise when the entertainment train discovered the brain behind so many successful lives, ready to receive the crew with outstretched arms and all smiles.

Fed Kyei Mensah a.k.a Fredyma hails from Agogo in the Ashanti region. He attended Prempeh College and had his sixth-form education at Kumasi Academy. His flair for music made him a member of the Prempeh College school choir, where he discovered his talent for playing the keyboard.

According to him, while he worked with Shell Ghana Ltd as the filling station manager from 1989 to 1999, he never neglected his talent, hence was doing ?demos? at his Laterbiokorshie residence in Accra.

Thanks to his wife, Emma, and his mother-in-law from whom he draws inspiration, he was able to secure part of the residence of his mother-in-law for his studio production. Having trained more than 30 sound engineers in the country, he has to his credit Agyingo of Hush Hush Studios, Ola Olympio and others including Jay Q.

Working with musicians like Kojo Antwi, Daddy Lumba and some other top artistes, has been an experience of a lifetime, he told the train, not ignoring the fact the he had discovered over 60 percent of the nation?s musicians including Suzzy and Matt, Daasebre Dwamena and Ofori Amponsah, among others.

With broad smiles, he disclosed to the train that he was the only sound engineer to have recorded a ten-track record of the legend, the late Kiki Gyan, which the train will make available in due time. Trust your Chronicle on Saturday to fulfill its promise.

Finally, the ever-smiling Fredyma said his vision is to establish a radio and TV station before he retires from the studios. We wish him well. Don?t we?
