Reazn Plays Out ?My Place?

Reazn is one of the few gospel music groups in Ghana today who have kept faith with performing on real musical instruments as opposed to the use of computer-generated sounds. This, they demonstrate admirably on their maiden album.

REAZN?s album, which is titled ?My Peace?, has all of its songs in Twi and English recorded with the unique backing of strong Afro reggae rhythms that also on its own takes gospel music into a different level. Very often, gospel music in Ghana either takes the tunes of show worship or the highly danceable praise songs but Afro reggae is quite rare.

?My Peace? which is the first song and the title track, passionately describes the perfect peace and love that are found in God. It is sang together with the smooth combination of drum beats, the sound bass instruments as well as horns.

It is often said that though the tongue is a useful part of our body, it can at the same time be a very dangerous weapon for destruction if not controlled.

?Preservation?, the second song on the album talks about the need to preserve the tongue in order to live long. Besides the strong message presented in the track, ?Preservation? has a highly danceable reggae rhythm.

An inspirational track presented as ?I Am? is a slow song that seeks to give the listener more reasons to worship only God.

?Son?, also on the first style of the album gives hope to the hopeless, strength to the weal and life to the spiritually dead. Son also assures believers of God?s gift of long life and further encourages the need to lean only God.

Closing the first side of REAZN?s ?My Peace is Princess? is packed with words of praise to God. Each verse of ?Praises? ends with a chorus packed with appellations of thanks.

One unique track on the album is ?Grace And Mercy? on Side B. It is smoothly sung in pidgin at the beginning and concluded in Twi at the last verse. ?Grace and Mercy? has exciting reggae tune that automatically puts the listener in a dancing mood.

Other tracks on ?My Peace is Not So? and ?Who can Say?. ?While Not So? is one of the inspirational songs on the album, ?Who Can say? is of a rather high tempo that is quite danceable and runs its last two verses in the rap style.

All the songs on ?My Peace? are led by Seth Sitso who is the lead vocalist with Doris Selorm Kpeglo, Effie Enos-Adu and Kaffui Afeame doing the backing.

On the bass guitar is Adi Buer Aryee and Russ Mason on the guitar. Drums are played by both Kofi Enos-Adu and Kwami as well as Richard Dzitiri playing the chant.

The keyboard is played by both Richard Kuma and David Kyei with Patrick Agbodza, Emil Atsu Ayekple and Francis Addo Twum blowing on horns.
