They Are 'Tongues Of Fire'

Tongues of Fire made up of Mrs. Comfort Boaheng and Mrs. Harriet Owusu-Banahene may be new on the gospel music scene but the prowess they exhibit with their songs is an indication that soon they will be a force to reckon with.

The duo who have been singing together for the past six years are out with their second album tilted 'Obi Ne Wonse' which is receiving appreciable airplay.

Fortunately for Comfort and Harriet, they have all the supported from their husbands Mr. Samuel Boaheng and Mr. Owusu-Banahene who happen to be their executive producers.

The duo are happy with the response the album is receiving but admit that is quite difficult to be new. Says Comfort, "producing cost is high, we could not have made it without the support of our husbands".

Generally praises run through the songs 'Nhyira Nka Nyankonpon', the opener is one with blessings to God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. "My soul bless the Lord and all that is in me bless his holy name for all that he has done." They outlined the blessings they have received from God and give him the due thanks and praise.

In reggae vein they moves on to 'Zion Botantim', the lyrics do not change much here as this is another song praise to God for all he done for them.

'Obi Ne Wonse' meaning there is none like you comes up next and doesn't do badly as the title track. It looks like what they set out to do with this one is to get the message across clearly that there is none like God because the song is not lyrically loaded except the refrain 'Obi Ne Wonse' which is sang over and again.

The rhythm changes into a danceable one as the duo sing 'Wama Yesan Asere Bio' which say that laughter has been brought back into their lives, they actually laugh in between the song to demonstrate the joy and happiness they are enjoying in the Lord.

It is time to lift up the downhearted when the flip side opens with 'Ewuradze Beye', assuring the listener that there is nothing God cannot do if we ask him in faith. The words of comfort in this song stands a good chance of bringing hope to the broken-hearted and hopeless.

Tongues of Fire believe that Jesus is the answer to all the sufferings and problems of this life and that is what they sing in 'Abrabo Mu Amanee'.

The only song done in English and one with appellations to the most high God is 'Jehova' which is followed by 'Mesom Wo' (I will worship you) to complete the album. The album was recorded at the Spirit Digital Studio, Patasi in Kumasi.

Comfort and Harriet are both businesswomen who say they admire all gospel artistes who sing to the glory of God. It is their hearts' desire that God will bless everyone, they urge their listeners to look up to God as the solver of all their problems.
