Hadouk Trio In Concert At Alliance Française

THE ALLIANCE Française in Accra will on Tuesday, February 9 host the Hadouk Trio, a sensational group from France, in a concert that will showcase a well-orchestrated and dramatic use of a wide variety of instruments.

Originally a duo made up of Didier Malherbe and Loy Ehrlich, who plays a variety of traditional and western instruments, the group expanded into a trio with the addition of percussionist Steve Shehan.

With the three on stage, the sonic possibilities are endless – indeed exhilarating.

There is an enchanting quality that is so pervasive, which makes the audience feel the presence of a fourth member as Didier leads the group on another musical journey into uncharted territories.

Ehrlich adds his own touch to the music of the group while the American Shehan, who also plays with such luminaries as Bob Dylan and Paul Simon, is the perfect counterpoint to his colleagues, playing a vast array of percussive instruments including djembe, congas, sanza, derbouka and hadgini.

With the Hadouk Trio, one must sit back, relax and allow him/herself to be taken away by sound waves through diverse moods.

These range from Oriental, African and Celtic to South American. Indeed, refined and intelligent orchestrations of the trio constantly oscillate between jazz and world music. The concert is being organized and sponsored by the Alliance Française and the French Embassy in Accra.
