Ledzokuku constituency of NDC holds mini-rally

Teshie (Greater Accra Region), 16 Nov 1998 - Nii Adjei-Boye Sekan, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ledzokuku, has pledged cadres' unflinching loyalty to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government. He, therefore, reminded those who think they can infiltrate their ranks to cause confusion and chaos in the country that they are on the wrong track. Nii Sekan made the pledge when he addressed mini-rally on Sunday organised by his constituency at Teshie. He said, as a party of the ordinary people of this country, the NDC has a tradition based on consensus-building which has always brought it victory. The MP, who is also a Presidential Staffer, urged aggrieved members of the party not to resort to violence in addressing issues but enter into dialogue with leaders of the party to resolve matters amicably within and not outside the party. Mr Basha Harsey, first Greater-Accra regional vice-chairman of the party, pointed out that the underlying principles that gave birth to the NDC cannot be compromised or sacrificed. He, therefore, urged members to close their ranks so that, through concerted efforts, they can resist acts intended to disintegrate them. Mr Jerry Nii Akwei Thompson, Ga district chief executive, alluded to development projects of the NDC government in the Teshie township such as electricity, good drinking water and roads, and urged the people to rally solidly behind it. Mr Danny Adjei Annang, constituency chairman, urged members of the party not to be complacent but work harder to ensure victory in the 2000 elections. Mr Daniel Amartey Mensah, assembly member, on behalf of the eight- member Teshie Council of assembly members, said the council has resolved to use its share of the common fund to improve the road network in the township. Mr Oliver Camel-din Teiko Ammah, assembly member who presided, appealed to the citizens to co-operate with their political heads to speed up development in the township.
