Traffic is the New NAR champions for Ghana

The two groups which represented the Ashanti Region at this year’s edition of the Nescafe African Revelation music talent search last Saturday grabbed the first and second positions at a huge concert held at the forecourt of the Ohene Gyan Sports Stadium in Accra.

The winning group, Traffic and the runners-up NLC put up their best in all the three challenging rounds of performance to snatch the top prizes from 13 other contestants.

Each of the 13 groups selected from six zones, Klala, 3 Units, Mmrantepa, Traffic, NLC, African Drum, Agoro, Nsuo, Nkwantanan, Nkenten, Ranking Family, 12 O’clock and Keyholders, composed an acapella in the second round and an original recorded song in the third round.

At the end of the second round, one could hardly tell which group was going to win but Traffic who sang a song about road accidents in the final round to advise drivers to limit their speed and use traffic lights as directed, proved themselves to both the judges and the audience as the best group.

With 93.71 points, Traffic emerged winners and will represent Ghana at the Pan African event. NLC (Naughty Lords Clan) with 90.4 placed second and Nsuo took the third position with 86.65 points.

Traffic took home $5,000, a guitar each for the members of the group, a Hifi sound system each and a hamper of Nescafe products. They will also have their debut album recorded and promoted.

All the other contestants took away one guitar each and a hamper for participation. Last year’s winners Praye also received $3000 from Nestle for their nomination at the All African KORA awards.
