Financial institutions urged to upgrade management systems

Wa (Upper West), 14th May ?99 ?

Financial institutions should identify their strengths and weaknesses to enable them to upgrade their management policies for higher output, Mr David Osei-Wusu, Upper West Regional Minister has said.

Speaking at the launching of the SSB ?Sika card? at Wa on Thursday, Mr Osei-Wusu said financial institutions should evolve strategies that would be acceptable to the business community in their daily transactions.

He commended the introduction of the card, which he hoped will help to huge losses incurred by people either through robbery or the careless handling of cash, which led to their loss.

Mr Osei-Wusu called on the management of SSB to administer the system in such a way as to engender trust and confidence in its use.

Mr Kwame Bediako Aboagye, Chief Information Systems Manager of the Bank, assured users of the card that it is safe and should it be lost or stolen the money could be retrieved.

He said the main objective of the card is to help reduce inflation, fraud, counterfeiting, robbery and to improve the payment process in the economy.

Mr Aboagye further assured that more strategies would be adopted to sustain the system and improve on its performance to cope with the growing trend of business in the country.
