Sarkodie sets the pace with Rapperholic concert

Rapper, Sarkodie continues to rise, setting new standards for his peers to follow. On Christmas day, he became the first Ghanaian rapper to release his album by headlining his own sold-out concert at The Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre, dubbed ‘Rapperholic – Sarkodie Live in Concert’.

The Tema-based rapper treated fans to an impressive live band performance with the ‘Ohia Be Ye Ya Band’ to mark the launch of his second album also titled ‘Rapperholic’. Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah, Sulley Muntari and his wife Menaye, John Pentsil, Nana Ama MacBrown, Ama K Abebrese, Kwesi Kyei Darkwah (KKD) and other top celebs joined to support Sarkodie.

Patrons were treated to exciting performances from the long list of artistes that included, FBS, Eduwoji, FOI, Yaw Siki, Ruff N Smooth, Trigmatic, Guru, Kwaw Kese, Gasmilla, Keche, VIP, Tinny and Edem before the man of the moment arrived at The Dome with a convoy of motorbikes - he was seated behind one. This set the crowd off as the well-suited rapper took to the stage to commence his performances. His first song for the night was the controversial, ‘Borga’, followed by a performance with Kwabena Kwabena. He sang ‘Goodbye’ and then performed ‘Lay Away’ with Jayso.

Sarkodie also performed ‘Am in Love with You’ and ‘Sweetio’ with Efya and Raquel respectively. Sherifa Gunu later joined him to perform a song from the ‘Rapperholic’ album. After giving shout outs to his family, including his mother who was also in attendance, Sarkodie didn’t leave out the crowd-favourite and smash hit, ‘You Go Kill Me’. He sealed the night of performances with a group performance of the song ‘Ajeii’ with fellow Tema acts, R2Bees and Nana Boroo.

As one of the artists responsible for the surge and popularity of Azonto, Sarkodie’s concert wouldn’t have been complete without the ubiquitous dance. Stephen Appiah, Sulley Muntari, Nana Ama McBrown, John Pentsil, Appietus and KKD were spotted doing the dance on stage.

The ‘Rapperholic’ album is expected to be available for purchase in music stores nationwide. The album includes hit songs such as ‘You Go Kill Me’ featuring EL, ‘Good Bye’ featuring Mugeez, ‘Living Legend’ featuring Kesse, ‘I’m in Luv with You’ featuring Efya, ‘Onyame Nhyira’ featuring Castro and the new single, ‘Dangerous’ featuring EL.
