Reggie?s ?Mobile Boys? and Seprewa Win NAR Accra

Winners of the Greater Accra Zonal NAR Contest The search for untapped talents of young musicians took place at the Warehouse Nyte Klub on the 20th and 21st August. On Friday, the auditioning of the young artistes started from 8am in the morning in which over hundreds of artistes applied and in the end it was reduced to 15. The real show came off on saturday at the Warehouse Nite club.

The 2004 hiplife champion commenced the show with a remarkable performance. KOD, the MC for the show who has always been with the NAR crew, introduced the ?Seprewa? group as artistes to perform first and also commence the first round. Seprewa, a group made up of two boys and a girl did so well especially when the girl took hold of the microphone. Mbreantepa, FBI, KLM and Mobile Boys followed up. Other contestants like Asase Ase, Black and White, Nkurasefo, Adinkra and Kenney and Fish also had their chance to also exhibit their talents. Mr K.K. Duah, Slim Busterr and William A. Aseidu were the judges for the day.

There were tremendous performances from artistes like Black Sam, Quata and 4x4. Reggie Rockstone, the God father of hiplife was present to grace the occasion as his boys were part of the competition.

Before round 2, KOD asked the judges what they thought of the contestants. William Aseidu (one of the judges) of The Mirror said he had seen only one boy from Prae whom he admires a lot. For the second round, only 5 contestants had to qualify and those who made it through were ?Adinkra?, ?Prae?, ?Seprewa?, ?Mbreantepa? and the ?Mobile Boys?.

They all had to come back again to do an accapella again. The formation dance of Mobile Boys was excellently exhibited on stage and before they finished the audience knew who the winners were.

Black Sam, a new entrant in the hiplife game shook the stage with his ?Menye Dull? track with the help of Tuga. The audience couldn?t help it but dance in tune with the track. OM?s Quata mesmerized the Warehouse Nite Club with Okra when he came on stage to perform.

KOD promised to give out a free Blazing Gear shirt to any one who could freestyle more than him. He called 5 guys onto the stage as the DJ played an instrumental. The first two could not make it through as KOD really showed them what time it was with his lyrics. Only one guy was able to seal through and that earned him a free shirt.

The judges' job was made easy as the lyrics and formations of some contestants were not as good as expected. KOD had to confess that the groups from Greater Accra zonal region were really good.
K.K. Fosu and Kokovelli made the audience feel their presence when they beautifully sang a couple of songs on their new and upcoming album.
It was now time for the announcing of the two contestants who will represent the Greater Accra Region in the finals. Mobile Boys and Seprewa were the proud winners. Reggie Rockstone was proud of his boys (Mobile Boys) and happy for them.

The event which was organised by Topdog Communications for Nestle Nescafe was indeed a memorable one.  Watch out because Ghana Music.Com has got more information on the final event that will take place in September.
