Stock market sustains gains

Accra (Greater Accra) 15 Jan. '99

The GSE All-Share Index today sustained gains posted during mid-week trading on Wednesday, finishing 2.11 points up at 871.21 points.

Total shares traded on the Exchange closed slightly higher at 173,700 out of the 2.6 million shares that were offered.

Market capitalisation was upbeat, closing at 3.351 billion cedis from 995.49 million issued shares.

Total shares issued on the market have gone up with the Rights Issue offer in Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) and Aluworks Limited (ALW).

In the broader market, there were only four gainers, with four equities going up.

Mobil Oil Ghana Limited (MOGL) shot up by 250 cedis to finish at 18,750 cedis. It is the third most capitalised equity on the Exchange after Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) and Ashanti Goldfields Company (AGC).

Fan Milk Limited (FML) made 50 cedis at 1,650 cedis, while Mechanical Lloyd Company (MLC) closed the week 15 cedis richer at 220 cedis.

The other gainer on the floor was SSB Bank, which went up by 10 cedis at 2,270 cedis.
