Music day at Alliance Francaise

Orlando Julius, the internationally acclaimed Nigerian saxophonist will on Wednesday June 23, 2004 share the stage at Alliance Francaise (Accra) with over twelve musical groups and musicians for a six-hour non stop musical concert.

Dubbed Music day (Fete de la Musique), the concert, which will also feature the renowned Togolese musician San Sipio, will showcase a variety of musical styles including Traditional, Reggae, rap, Ndombolo, Highlife, Afro Beat and Brass/Percussion.

Ghanaian groups and musicians that will participate in the six-hour concert include Courage Man Jah, Black Prophet, Vibration kings, Djenbii Cultural Troupe, Sir Benja, Okokroko Brass Band and Sylvain.

As part of the activities marking the 2004 edition of ?Fete de la Musique? two renowned French jazz musicians, Louis Sclavis and Vincent Courtois will thrill jazz fans at the Alliance Francaise on Saturday June 19.

Music Day (Fete de la Musique) was started in France twenty-three years ago and has been simultaneously organized in numerous countries in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and the United Stated.

The programme, which is being sponsored by the Alliance Francaise in collaboration with the French Embassy in Accra will also take place in Kumasi, Takoradi, Cape Coat and the port city of Tema.
