Mac Tontoh Excites Music Fans

Over ten thousand jazz music fans were on Saturday, April 22, 2006 thrilled by a leading member of Ghana's own Osibisa Group at the University of Colorado, Boulder in the United States during the 6th Annual Highlife Concert with some of Osibisa's good songs.

Authorities of the university have pledged to support Mac Tontoh in establishing a music school to offer free tuition in Ghana.

The university is also ready to give Ghanaians the opportunity to perform live to their students.

Before the concert Mac Tontoh on April 18th organized workshops for students of the university on Ghanaian Highlife Music, and some aspects of Ghanaian culture at a special convocation in the College of Music.

Mac was successful in serving as a cultural ambassador by promoting Ghanaian culture and music in the United States during this one week visit.

By merits of his excellent stage of performance, some of the students are planning to visit Ghana and assist Ghanaian music with the necessary input.

The highlife music icon was privileged enough to perform alongside international artistes. A combination of regular and disciplined rehearsals resulted in a highly professional, inspiring and splendid performances giving the show the hallmark of excellence that annual highlife concerts were characterized with.

He also raised the flag of Ghana high at the concerts as the leader of the world renowned Osibisa Group, composer, band leader and with his excellent skills on the trumpet, thrilled his audience.

Mac disclosed that he was working tirelessly to establish a school where he was going to train upcoming musicians in the music industry free of charge. The project he said would begin as soon as he found a good location.
