MUCD To Research Into Traditional Songs

The Methodist University College, Ghana, is to set-up a reputable Music Centre for academic excellence and research into traditional songs (Ebibir Ndwom).

The Principal of the College, Rev. Professor Samuel K. Adjepong made this known to the ?Spectator? in an interview at the campus at Dansoman, last week.

He said the music centre would be for performance and also train persons who want to learn how to play musical instruments. The centre will also have a well-equipped studio for recording.

Prof. Adjepong added that, ?Methodism was born in songs. The two brothers John and Charles Wesley wrote songs of profound relish. Some of the Methodist Hymn Books are accredited to the two men whose outreach programmes helped to lay the foundation on which the Methodist Church was established?.

According to the Principal, the centre would self-sustaining.
