Students apologise to SSNIT

Students of the Tamale Polytechnic have apologised for their unruly behaviour at the Tamale district office of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) in demand for prompt payment of their students' loans. The students numbering about 50, last week, besieged the SSNIT offices and held the district manager Mr Sylvester Ankobil captive in his office for about one-and-half hours for what they described as "undue delay in the payment of their loans". Mr Abu Fresch, President of the Students' Representative Council signed the letter of apology on behalf of the students, all first year Higher National Diploma students. Mr Fresch said they realised their action has caused the school authorities, the Ministry of Education and parents a lot of concern and it is high time they apologised. Meanwhile Mr Ankobil has assured the students that he is expediting action on the processing of the loans for payment.
