Tema Manhean owes over 558 million cedis in water bills

Tema Manhean (Greater Accra) 1 Nov '98

The residents of Tema Manhean as at September, this year, owed the Ghana Water and Sewerage Corporation (GWSC) 558.1 million cedis in water bills. Mr Stephen Adza Yaw, Tema district commercial officer of the GWSC, disclosed this at Tema Manhean at a public forum on the corporation' billing system. The forum was also to enable the corporation to interact with consumers to learn of their problems and how these could be resolved. Mr Yaw said even though bills are sent out on time, consumers' response is not encouraging because only 36.2 million cedis of the outstanding bills had so far been paid. He warned that the corporation would take legal action against defaulters to retrieve the money and, therefore, advised them to settle their bills to avoid disconnection.
