Bernice Ansah cautions 'juju' gospel musicians

Female gospel musician popularly known in showbiz as Bernice Ansah has cautioned her colleague gospel musicians who resort to 'juju' for hit songs and/or getting music producers to produce their albums.

Speaking to Bernice Ansah on the kind of challenges she faced in her 10 years in music, she told Flex newspaper, the difficulties she passed through as a gospel musician to be able to climb to the top.

According to Bernice, it hasn’t been easy with her at all.

“My brother, it is not easy for a female gospel musician who has no help or producer to come out as a successful musician. If I tell you the kind of challenges I faced as a female gospel musician, you will marvel,” she said.

“Almost everybody who wants to help you wants to take advantage of you before work begins and when you refuse, then forget it.

Some of them also go for "juju" to shorten their suffering in looking for producers to produce theirs songs and others go for the juju to make their albums hit,” Bernice further stated.

She added that she had seen and knows some gospel musicians who got their albums to hit by resorting to juju men for helps.

“Some go to the cemeteries to do rituals and so many evil things. But in all of these, those gospel musicians end up in disgrace instead of the Grace,” Bernice Ansah stated.

She advised gospel musicians who do their songs with the help of "juju" to desist from it.

She said she could have also done same with the kind of challenges she faced but she refused because she put her faith in God.

“This is my 10th year in the music industry ever since I started doing professional music and I have never worked with any producer before.

I produced all my eight albums that came out till date, through my own effort by going from Church to Church, offices and other places to sell my own CDs. This advice was given to me by the highlife legendary Kojo Antwi and when I tried it, it helped me a lot,” Bernice noted.

Because of this, Bernice Ansah won’t put her albums at Kantamanto waiting for people to go buy them and she won’t depend on any producer to produce her songs for her.

“Almost all those who want to help you, want to take advantage of you, but I told myself, I will never give up since God told me.

He’s going to push me to the top and make everybody hear of me. And I can testify that, today, God has done that which I was yearning for. God has glorified me from day one into my tenth year,” she said.

Getting nominations in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards this year, organizing National Prayers for the entire nation at the Conference Center without taking a penny, going abroad to do a tour of my album is more than a blessing to me.

Bernice Ansah who is celebrating her 10th Anniversary in the music industry on the 16th August, 2015 at the Achimota Road Junction before ABC Junction at exactly 1:00pm after Church, has eight albums to her credit.

The likes of Cecilia Marfo, Obaapa Christy, Gifty Osei, Joe Dee, Brother Sammy, Nhyira Betty. Mavis of Mentor Fame, Abena Serwa, Paul Ambatem, Emelia Authur, Lady Sara, Brother Simon, Mrs. Dzifa Olimpio, Rose Adjei, Sammy Young, Clement K, Rev. George Adu Bonsu aka Benjilo, Hon. Rev. Dr. Addo Agyakum (Nkosuo Hene), Gasmila, Kakyire Kwame Appiah and many more will be there.

She came out with her debut album in 2005 with “Obeye Ama Me” followed by Ahyase, Adea Yesu Aye, Mensu, Bgenze Gbgenze, Immigration No Aye Tight and Nya Nkwa.
