In a post-elimination examination of Cameroon's journey in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, former defender Alexandre Song has emerged as a vocal critic, raising pertinent questions about the constraints faced by the national team's technical staff.

The Indomitable Lions, once hailed as contenders for the AFCON crown, suffered a bitter blow, prompting Song to question the freedom granted to the coaching staff. In a recent appearance on a sports program in Cameroon, the former player didn't hold back, raising pointed concerns about the operational dynamics within the team.

The elimination has sent shockwaves through the Cameroonian football community, leaving a sour taste for many former players. While some have directed their frustration at Coach Rigobert Song, others have taken aim at Fecafoot.

Alexandre Song's latest remarks further intensify the scrutiny surrounding the technical team's autonomy.

“Do the technical staff have their hands free? Are the players free? If mentally you are not free, the body does not follow […] We left players like Choupo Moting, Martin Hongla, and Nsame who could contribute," he said.

"I have nothing against the young people we took, but we saw that they had difficulties,” he added.
