Acheampong as head of state made himself Minister of sports as well. He was also very interested in football and did everything to motivate sports men. DK Poison can testify to that. The 1978 blackstar team were made to camp together for months and were not involved in the local league. Those days the players who could not make Blackstars team were better than anything we have today. Kudos would struggle to win a place over Bannerman, Abirey and John Essien and these were the second rates of those days

Baba Yare and Muhammad Polo as second and third respectively. Ghana has produced many wonderful players but these three player were unique. Long live Ghana. Ghana will surely bounce back. Let's be patient with the team.
