Sekina Sidique is a journalist and Community Manager at GhanaWeb owned by AfricaWeb Holdings, Ghana's largest and most visited online news portal.

She is the Head of Community at GhanaWeb responsible for all social media accounts (Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok. Her roles include social media management, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and content creation and strategy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Engagement:

-Respond to comments, messages, and posts on social media or community platforms.

-Encourage discussions and participation from community members.

-Content Creation & Curation: -Create posts, newsletters, or discussion prompts tailored to the community.

-Share user-generated content or relevant industry news.

2. Moderation: -Enforce community guidelines and deal with conflict, spam, or inappropriate behaviour.

-Maintain a positive and respectful environment.

3. Monitoring & Feedback:

-Track community sentiment and feedback to inform the organization’s strategies.

-Use analytics tools to measure engagement and growth.

4. Event Coordination (Online/Offline):

-Organize webinars, meetups, AMAs (Ask Me Anything), or other events.

-Represent the brand in public forums or events. 5. Advocacy & Relationship Building:

-Identify and support brand advocates or power users.

-Build relationships with influencers or key community members.

Prior to her career in journalism in 2018, she worked with the Ghana Revenue Authority as a tax officer and Mechanical Lloyd PLC as an administration assistant.

Sekina started out as an intern with GhanaWeb creating background pages(biographies) of prominent, distinguished, and well-known Ghanaians, home and abroad.

Additionally, she worked with the sister website under the AfricaWeb Holdings, MyNigeria where she worked as a multimedia journalist.

Education

Sekina attended the EPC Mawuko Girls Senior High School in Ho, Volta Region. She then pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Central University, Ghana specializing in Broadcast Communication.

She has engaged and participated in workshops by the BBC as well as the University of Ghana which has further broadened her spectrum.
