John Darko is a prominent Ghanaian lawyer and politician, currently serving as the Member of Parliament for the Suame constituency in the Ashanti Region.

He represents the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.

Early Life and Education

John Darko hails from Bremang, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He completed his BA (HON) in Political Science and Theatre Arts at the University of Ghana in 2003.

John then pursued an LLB at the same institution, graduating in 2007. He furthered his legal education at the Ghana School of Law, where he completed his studies in 2009. In 2010, he earned an LLM from the University of Houston.

Career

Darko began his legal career as an Associate at Gyandoh Asmah and Co., where he honed his skills in law and advocacy. He later became a partner at Darko, Keli-Delataa and Co.

In 2014, he joined the faculty at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), teaching courses related to constitutional, environmental, and natural resource law.

Political Career

In March 2025, John Darko was appointed as Legal Counsel to the NPP Minority Caucus in Parliament. He contested and won the NPP primaries for the Suame constituency in July 2024, showcasing his political acumen.

In the general elections held in December 2024, Darko was elected as the Member of Parliament for Suame, succeeding Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.

He serves on the Youth, Sports, and Culture Committee and the Judiciary Committee, contributing to key legislative discussions and policies.
