End of Year Get together
Members of the above association met on the 30th of December, 2007 for their last meeting of the year in a celebratory mood to climax their activities for the passing year and to welcome the incoming one in a grand style.
The above association was officially constituted in July of 2005, and has since being very vibrant in pursuance of the goals and aspirations of the association. At the moment, the association has been issued with the legal accreditation to operate as a full entity in the state of New Jersey.
Paramount among the goals of the association is to rally the assistance and cooperation of loyal citizens of Asante Asamang and all well-wishers in an attempt to help better the living conditions of the folks back home, more especially, with the education of the children in the pre-school age, which the association is vigorously perusing with their dues and contributions.
On the above date, at about 3.p.m Eastern Standard Time, members of the association gathered in the home of one of the founding members, Mr. Kwasi Asante Nyame, with local food of all kinds. Some of the dishes that they enjoyed included banku, fofuo, ampesie, tuo zaafe, and the like, all of which were prepared by the members as part of their contribution for the association in order to further cement their relationship with one another. Other members donated drinks of all kind to help enhance the celebration.
When proceedings of the association for the day came to a close at about 4.15 pm, the party then got underway. Members had the choice of all they could eat and drink amidst powerful musical selections from local musicians. A banch of items were donated by Mr. Albert Adusei, also one of the founding members of the association to be used as prizes for winners of the main raffle to climax the occasion.
At the end of the draw, the three lucky winners were Ms. Ellen O. Buckman, Ms. Ester Yeboah, and Ms. Comfort Agyei Mensah. Commenting on the history of association and the way forward, the chairman, Mr. Seifa Bonsu thanked all members for being very supportive and loyal to the association and one another. He entreated members to maintain their loyalty to the association and to give all they can to help better the lives of the folks at home. Mr. Owusu Asenso Mensa, the Vice-Chairman, on his part encouraged members to do all they can to support the association. He reaffirmed his usual statement on the fact that members should not consider the number of people the association has, rather, the commitment of the very few members is what counts the most. Because, he continued, that would help them carry the day.
When the final accounts for the association was rendered by the treasurers, Messers Edward obeng Agyare and Bernard Agyei, it was greeted with a big round of applause from all members which was indicative of their appreciation for the good job done.
The chairman closed the meeting with an appeal to all citizens of Asante Asamang in the Diaspora to join ranks with the association, because, as the saying goes, two heads are better than one. The association meets on the last Sunday of every month. For further information, interested citizens of Asante Asamang should direct all questions to the secretary, Mr. Samuel Adusei Buabeng owurapaa@yahoo.com.
