New York, USA -- The Amansie Kuo Of USA, initially formed in 1974 and later re- organized in the 1990?s is the oldest Ghanaian association in North America with the initial aim of bringing together all sons and daughters of Amansie residing in North America. The membership has since been broadened to include any Ghanaian,irrespective of place/district of birth who has the interest and well-being of Amansie in particular and Ghana in general at heart. This association has been led in the past by such dedicated presidents as Mr John Donkor, Mr J. Kofi Nti, and Mr. Kofi Nti-Brempong . The current President, Mr Nsiah Tuffuor, The Vice President, Mr Kwabena Amakye and the able executive members have also worked tirelessly to continue the good deeds of their predecessors. Over the years, the Association has embarked on projects such as: presentation of supplies to various hospitals /clinics in the Amansie district. Their most recent venture is the establishment of the Amansie Educational Fund. The fund offers financial assistance to college-bound member children (an incentive to second generation- Amansie citizens to pursue higher education). Amansie Kuo is a unifying and fun-loving Association currently with membership of about 150 strong in the New York metropolis. General meetings are held on the first Sunday of every month at Mapes Avenue, Bronx, NY. Other branches of the parent association are in operation at Ohio, Washington DC, and Canada. These Annual Picnics held by Amansie Kuo serve as a source of entertainment and also a means to unwind after working hard for many weeks. The last three successive picnics have been organized in conjunction with the Kwakwaduam Fekuo of New York whose President is Mr George Gyan.
