'My Gen Z song had no actual inspiration' - Fameye

Ghanaian musician Fameye has disclosed that his hit song Gen Z had no clear inspiration, explaining that he simply drew from the lifestyle and behaviour of his Gen Z friends while creating the track.
Speaking in an interview on YFM, the singer said there was no deeper meaning behind the song despite the various interpretations it has received.
“I have Gen Z friends, I know how the Gen Zs move is, and I know how their character is like, so I just tapped in,” he said.

Fameye admitted that he had previously found it difficult to explain the song’s inspiration because there was no special motivation behind it.
“I said on TV that I don’t really have any special motivation for this song, so I might end up saying different things on any platform I get on, but I think the honest thing is my Gen Z friends,” he stated.
The musician credited producer Cooks, whom he described as a Gen Z, for helping shape the record into what it became.
According to Fameye, a trip to South Africa also influenced the song’s final sound after his DJ suggested incorporating elements of Amapiano.
“We travelled to South Africa. You know how South Africans love Amapiano, and they chill a lot. So I went there with my DJ, and he told me I should call Cooks and tell him to add some Amapiano touch so that it can sound a little bit like Amapiano, not just the Afro sound,” he added.
