Nana Baffour Awuah vows to defend Salomey Baffoe despite 'setbacks'

Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Manhyia South MP and lawyer for senior nursing officer, Salomey Awiti Baffoe, says he will continue to defend his client despite the personal challenges he has faced in the course of the case.
His comments came after the Adentan Circuit Court on Monday, October 5, 2026, granted Baffoe bail of GH¢100,000 with two sureties.
The nursing officer has been in custody in connection with a case involving allegations of abetting the publication of false news on social media.
'Ghana Jollof' Case: Salomey Baffoe granted GH¢100,000 bail
Reacting to the latest development in a Facebook post, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah said the case had become more than just another legal matter for him, given the difficulties he has encountered while representing Baffoe.
He admitted that the past few weeks had been challenging but said the experience had not changed his commitment to his client.
“The past few weeks have tested my resolve. But through it all, I have remained guided by one conviction: a lawyer must never be afraid to stand for a client’s rights simply because doing so becomes difficult or uncomfortable,” he said.
For the Manhyia South MP, the granting of bail marks an important stage in the case, but his responsibility as counsel remains the same.
He said he would not allow the difficulties surrounding the case to deter him from carrying out his professional duty.
“Whatever the personal cost, I will not abandon my duty as a lawyer. Justice must be allowed to take its course,” he said.
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah said his focus would now be on the substantive case and ensuring that Baffoe receives the appropriate legal representation and due process.
His comments come amid continued public interest in the case, which has drawn attention to the prosecution of individuals accused of involvement in the publication of false information on social media.
For now, Baffoe has been granted bail as the legal process continues.
