GRA responds to alleged extortion by customs officer at Accra International Airport

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has responded to the alleged extortion incident involving a customs officer at the Accra International Airport.

In a statement released on October 5, 2026, the Authority indicated that it has launched an investigation into the matter after allegations made by TikToker Lady Rev Adwoa Pretty, who claimed that a customs officer stationed at the airport collected GH¢600 from her without issuing a receipt.

“The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has taken note of a video circulating on social media by a TikToker called Lady Rev. Adwoa Pretty,” the Authority stated.

The Authority said it has begun investigations into the matter and will communicate its findings to the public after the process is completed.

“The GRA wishes to assure the public that the Authority has commenced an investigation into the matter and will update the general public on the findings when completed,” the statement said.

The development comes amid growing calls for accountability and professionalism in the delivery of public services.

The GRA reiterated its commitment to maintaining integrity and accountability in the discharge of its mandate.

“The GRA remains committed to upholding integrity, accountability, and professionalism in the discharge of its mandate,” it added.

The Authority did not disclose the identity of the customs officer involved in the allegation or provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the alleged payment.
