Watch as Hawa Koomson details ‘plans’ for contender after victory

The newly elected National Women's Organiser of the New Patriotic Party, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has said she will work with her contender, Hajia Safia Mohammed, following their contest within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Hawa Koomson said she did not consider the contest a difficult one and intends to involve Hajia Safia in the party's work by sending her on errands.

“It was never a tough contest. No, I didn't see it as a tough contest. What I'm saying is that I'll bring her on board since we are all NPP members. We are all going to work for the party. She's my daughter… I'll bring her on board and be sending her. I'll send her on errands; that's what I'm doing,” she said while addressing pressmen after her victory.
Mavis Hawa Koomson emerged victorious with 783 votes against Hajia Safia Mohammed’s 429 votes in the election of the party’s national executives at its Annual Delegates Conference on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
John Boadu was elected as the new National Chairman to lead the party into the 2028 general election.
Boadu secured 48.5% of the votes at the congress held at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

He contested against Boakye Kyeremanten Agyarko, Paul Afoko and Sammy Crabbe, who, before the election, withdrew his bid to support John Boadu.
