CSA pushes real-time sharing of cyber threat information

The Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), Divine Selase Agbeti, has called on banks, fintech companies, telecommunications operators, regulators and law enforcement agencies to share cyber threat information more quickly to prevent attacks and reduce financial losses.
Speaking at the launch of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) 2026 on Thursday, October 1, 2026, he said cybercriminals often exploit gaps between institutions, making it necessary for organisations within Ghana’s digital finance ecosystem to work more closely.
“Cybercriminals do not operate within the boundaries of individual institutions and can target banks, fintechs, telecommunications companies and other digital platforms,” he stated.

He said a threat detected by one institution could also affect other institutions if the relevant information was not shared quickly.
Agbeti said collaboration must therefore go beyond signing agreements to developing systems that allow institutions to exchange actionable information and respond to threats in real time.
“The real measure of collaboration is how quickly we can detect, share, respond and recover together,” he said.
He urged financial institutions to share actionable threat intelligence with relevant stakeholders to help identify emerging attacks before they result in significant losses.
He also called for closer cooperation among telecommunications companies, banks, fintechs, regulators, technology companies, cybersecurity providers and law enforcement agencies.
He said the various institutions had important roles to play in protecting Ghana’s digital financial system.
Agbeti said no single institution could successfully deal with the growing threat of cybercrime on its own.
“Cybersecurity is a team sport, and Ghana must play as one team,” he said.
He added that stronger cooperation would improve Ghana’s ability to detect cyber threats, respond to incidents and recover from attacks.
The Authority said NCSAM 2026 should lead to more practical action and less institutional isolation in the fight against cybercrime.
