‘You can make anyone your king' - Shatta Wale tells fan in 'Dancehall King' debate

It appears the rivalry over who holds the title of Dancehall King in Ghana remains unsettled, as neither Shatta Wale nor Stonebwoy appears ready to concede. For more than a decade, the two artistes have been directly or indirectly contesting ownership of the title. During a live TikTok session sighted by GhanaWeb on August 25, 2026, Shatta Wale was asked by a fan who truly deserves the title. The fan argued that Stonebwoy has more reggae/dancehall awards to his credit, both in Ghana and across Africa, and questioned how Shatta Wale could still claim the crown. ‘Stonebwoy is not my rival; we live just two minutes apart’ - Shatta Wale “I want to know, what makes you the Dancehall King over Stonebwoy?
