Defilement, Suffocation: Mother alleges four underage daughters sexually abused by father

Antoinette Boakye, a mother of four has accused her husband, 44-year-old Emmanuel Ekumfi, of sexually abusing their four daughters and allegedly attempting to suffocate her after she confronted him about the alleged abuse. According to Antoinette Boakye, from Gomoa Dominase in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, the incident forms part of a prolonged period of physical and emotional abuse she allegedly experienced during her marriage. She said a misunderstanding between her and her husband eventually led him to ask her to leave their matrimonial home. Although she initially left, she returned in April 2026 to visit their children. It was during one of her visits, she said, that she became concerned about the condition of her daughters and began to suspect that they had been subjected to sexual abuse. Madam Boakye explained that her suspicions became stronger when she was bathing her eldest daughter, aged 12, and noticed unusual physical changes. She said she questioned the 12-year-old girl about what she had observed, and the girl allegedly told her that her father was responsible. The mother further claimed that after making additional inquiries, she discovered that her other three daughters with the youngest aged 4 had also allegedly been abused by their father. Boakye alleged that the children had been subjected to threats intended to prevent them from speaking about what they had experienced. “I usually bath my daughters, so one day, while I was about to bath my eldest daughter, I noticed some physical changes in her private parts, and it was an eyesore. I asked her what had happened, and she told me that it was her father who had sexually abused her. She told me her father had threatened to kill her if she ever told anyone. “On one occasion, I realised that her father had gone to the eldest daughter to sexually abuse her, and my daughter had no choice but to allow him to have his way. The way he would squeeze her breasts was disturbing, and he would often use anointing oil to penetrate them. When I confronted him about it, he suffocated me,” she narrated. Following the allegations, the matter was reported to the Millennium City District Police Command, which led to Emmanuel Ekumfi arrested. He was subsequently arraigned before the Akweley Magistrate Court in Kasoa, where he is facing charges connected to the allegations. The case has been adjourned to September 15, 2026, as investigations continue. The allegations against Ekumfi have not been established in court.
