Musician Barosky homeless in UK, appeals for support to return to Ghana

Ghanaian musician Barosky has appealed to the public for support to enable him to return to Ghana after a video surfaced showing him homeless on the streets of Manchester in the United Kingdom. The musician, who has worked on projects with notable Ghanaian artistes including Ofori Amponsah and Kofi Nti, spoke to media personality Nana Romeo about his current living conditions in the UK. Barosky disclosed that he currently has no place to stay and has been sleeping on the streets without regular access to food or bathing facilities. He said he has resorted to seeking food on the streets, with some people occasionally offering him something to eat. “I sleep on the street for now. I haven’t even bathed for some time now. People help me to feed,” he said. Asked whether he remains in contact with his family in Ghana, Barosky disclosed that it had been a while since he last reached out to them. He added that he has no relatives in the UK and only has a few friends there. Barosky'Ronning' His Own 'Things' Given his difficult circumstances, Barosky said his preferred option is to return to Ghana rather than seek accommodation in the UK. He therefore appealed to individuals who may be able to assist him with the necessary support to facilitate his return home. “I need a room, but if I had to choose between having a room and returning to Ghana, I would choose to come home. I want to return to Ghana. I don’t have any family here in the UK, just a few friends,” he said. Barosky, known in private life as Isaac Obeng Mensah, became a household name among Ghanaian music lovers following his contributions to Kofi Nti’s hit song ‘Rakia’ and Ofori Amponsah’s ‘Otoolege.’ He hails from Ashanti Bekwai and discovered his passion for music while attending Golden Six College, a technical school at Laterbiokorshie, where he served as the Assistant Entertainment Prefect. Barosky later trained as a sound engineer under renowned Ghanaian producer Appietus between 2002 and 2004. He subsequently worked with him as an assistant engineer before taking a break from the job to pursue his music career and feature on Kofi Nti’s maiden album, Rakia. He later left the camp following a controversial disagreement with Ofori Amponsah over alleged monies owed to him, as well as concerns about his frequent appearances on other artistes’ songs. After going solo, Barosky released his 10-track album, Okyerewaa Ba, in 2007, which received considerable airplay. Throughout his career, he has featured on songs by several Ghanaian artistes, including Ofori Amponsah, Kofi Nti, K.K. Fosu and Sidney. @nanaromeoexclusive
