‘Wear sexy clothes for your husbands at home’ - Rev Obofour tells Christian women

Leader of the Anointed Palace Chapel (APC), Reverend Obofour, has urged Christian women to dress attractively for their husbands, encouraging them to wear sexy and revealing clothes at home. Speaking to his congregation on August 23, 2026, Rev Obofour said women should wear appealing clothes when they are at home rather than dressing as though they are attending a funeral. According to him, some Christian women dress too conservatively at home because they believe their faith requires them to do so. “Dress well as a woman and wear sexy clothes. Even when you are at home, you should wear clothes that show some skin around your thighs and cleavage. Some women wear dresses at home that are meant for funerals simply because they say they are Christians. Most of them are mad Christians,” he said. The preacher also argued that Christianity should not prevent women from taking care of their appearance, particularly through the use of makeup. 'Don’t let church trap you in marriage!' – Rev Obofour “Christianity does not mean you should look scary. God is an expensive God. When someone wears makeup, some pastors say the person will go to hellfire. Village pastors! Once a pastor says something, you put it in your head and believe it. Makeup helps you to look good. So now tell me, why would a pastor take his car to a spraying shop when it gets scratched?” he said. Rev Obofour further questioned why some pastors preach certain teachings in Ghana but would not necessarily uphold the same standards outside the country. He cited the condemnation of women who wear fashion items such as heels and jeans as examples. He argued that such teachings do not determine whether a woman is a good Christian or wife, stressing that a woman’s conduct and responsibilities are more important than her choice of clothing. “The gospel in Africa is such that, because you can get people to listen to you, you just go ahead and say whatever you want. If I choose to have my wife wear a headgear to church or not, that does not determine whether she is a good wife. “What makes her a good wife is her support for me and how she raises our children in a God-fearing manner. If your female pastor wears a headgear or not, that does not make her a better female pastor,” he added. @rev.obofourfamily
