Dear GhanaWeb: I slept with my younger sister's husband, now I'm pregnant

Dear GhanaWeb,
I am a 36-year-old unmarried woman, and I find myself in a painful dilemma. My younger sister, three years my junior, is happily married with three children.
I have always admired her life, though I never imagined I would become entangled in it in such a regrettable way.
Some months ago, while helping care for her children during her absence, her husband returned home unexpectedly.
That night, I made a mistake. I initiated an encounter with him, and though he resisted at first, I persisted until he gave in. It happened only once, but now I am pregnant.
I never intended to harm my sister or her marriage. I love her deeply, and this situation fills me with guilt and fear. At the same time, I am 36 years old and do not feel comfortable terminating the pregnancy. I want to keep the baby.
My dilemma is how to handle this responsibly. The father deserves to know, and I believe he should contribute to the child’s welfare.
Yet I am terrified of the consequences: that he might panic, deny responsibility, or that my sister’s marriage could be destroyed.
I wish to keep this matter private and avoid hurting my sister and her children. But I cannot manage this alone.
How can I tell him about the pregnancy and ask for his support without causing unnecessary damage to their marriage?
I sincerely seek advice from your readers.
