Dr. Stephen Amoah, the Nhyiaeso lawmaker and a key supporter of Kennedy Agyapong, has sparked controversy with divisive religious remarks while campaigning for his candidate.
During an event with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) student wing in Kumasi, Dr. Amoah, also known as "Sticka," shocked attendees by making statements perceived as anti-Muslim. He claimed that Ghanaian Christians are unlikely to support a Muslim leader, stating, “Whether we admit it or not, Christians rarely vote for a Muslim leader. That’s the reality.”
He further challenged the audience, asking, “Why are we pretending? Let’s recognize the issue and work on solutions instead of denying it exists.”
As a prominent campaigner for Kennedy Agyapong—the former Assin Central MP and NPP presidential hopeful for 2028—Amoah’s comments have drawn widespread criticism. Many Ghanaians have condemned his remarks as “bigoted and offensive.”
