A severe road crash took place on Sunday, 17th August 2025, near the Pentecost bus stop by the pharmacy block at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The accident involved two buses—one owned by the Association of Ghanaian Chartered Ministers (AGCM) and the other by the Presbyterian Church.
Eyewitnesses reported that the collision happened in the afternoon, creating fear among onlookers. The crash was forceful, leaving both vehicles severely damaged. Fortunately, neither bus was carrying passengers at the time, averting a potential mass casualty incident.
Both drivers suffered injuries and were promptly taken to the hospital by emergency crews. While the severity of their injuries remains undisclosed, medical staff are providing necessary treatment.
Students and local residents who saw the accident were deeply disturbed. Many raised concerns over the frequent accidents on the university’s busy roads and urged better traffic management, suggesting solutions like speed bumps, traffic signals, or clearer road markings.
Security personnel helped manage the scene and direct vehicles, as the crash caused a temporary traffic buildup near the Pentecost bus stop.
Investigations will determine the exact cause, including whether speeding, brake malfunction, or driver negligence contributed to the collision.
Though no fatalities occurred, the incident highlights the importance of road safety and responsible driving—even within a campus environment.
