A wave of grief and anxiety has spread through Dambai in the Oti Region following the suspected murder of Dr. Owusu Ofori, a 32-year-old medical practitioner, as reported by TV3 Ghana on Saturday morning. The doctor's horrific death has left his community and colleagues in despair.
Dr. Ofori's body was discovered inside his home on Thursday, when neighbors suspected something was wrong. The typically punctual doctor had not departed for work, and his vehicle was still outside, causing neighbors to check on him. When he did not return their calls, police were notified immediately.
When law enforcement police entered the home, they discovered Dr. Ofori dead in a pool of blood, with many injuries, including severe gashes on his extremities. These scars indicate that he may have fought throughout the assault.
Inspector Kwame Badu stated that various personal goods were gone from the home, and there was evidence of a scuffle in the living room, prompting investigators to assume robbery and deliberate violence. A full-scale investigation has been initiated, and crime scene investigators are gathering evidence to identify the perpetrators.
Dr. Ofori's hospital colleagues recognized him as a talented and compassionate physician who always went above and beyond for his patients. "His death is a huge loss to us all," Dr. Sarah Boateng stated.
His devastated family is looking for answers and demanding justice. The sad episode has sparked widespread worry in Dambai, with citizens pressing officials to improve community security and prevent future incidents.
