In the Central Region of Ghana, a 30-year-old mother is said to have killed her two small children before taking her own life, according to the video that GHOne TV released.

The terrible incident happened in the sleepy town of Awutu Breku on Sunday.

When neighbors noted that the house was abnormally quiet, they got concerned for the family's safety and called the police.

When police arrived, they found the house's locked door. They broke in and discovered the dead bodies of the two and five-year-old children.

In this horrific crime, the mother is said to have used a sharp machete, called a "panga" in the local dialect. She is said to have hanged herself in the family's tiny backyard following the killings.

According to preliminary accounts, mental health concerns may have contributed to her behavior, and the local police have verified that investigations are still underway.

For autopsies, the mother's and children's remains have been transported to Central Regional Hospital. Although it is still hypothetical, authorities are also investigating the possibility that the scene was manufactured.

Ghanaian mental health professionals are worried about the increase in suicide and domestic abuse incidents. They list a number of causes for the mental health crisis in many areas, such as societal pressures, unemployment, and economic difficulty.

"Seeing such tragedies is heartbreaking," local psychologist Dr. Nana Yaa Agyemang remarked. "We need to provide more support for individuals struggling with mental health issues to prevent future incidents."

A few months ago, during a family argument, a father injured his children before attempting suicide in a case that shook a nearby district.
